Construction Update: Invermay Road and Tamar Street Sealing Works

As part of the Invermay Road and Lindsay Street intersection upgrade, Crossroads will carry out road surface sealing works during night hours from Monday 12 May to Friday 16 May 2025.

Schedule of works:

Monday 12 May 2025, 7:30pm – Tuesday 13 May 2025, 6am

Asphalt sealing will be undertaken on the southbound lanes of Invermay Road, between UTAS Stadium and Barnards Way. During this time, the southbound lanes will be closed, and detours will be in place to guide motorists safely around the work zone. The northbound lane will remain open.

Tuesday 13 May 2025, 7:30pm – Wednesday 14 May 2025, 6am

Construction of a raised intersection at Invermay Road and Lindsay Street will commence, requiring a full closure of the intersection. Temporary traffic diversions will be in place during working hours, with detour signage provided to guide motorists.

Wednesday 14 May 2025, 7:30pm – Thursday 15 May 2025, 6am

The final asphalt seal will be applied to the intersection of Invermay Road and Lindsay Street. Detours will be in place during these works.

Thursday 15 May 2025, 7:30pm – Friday 16 May 2025, 6am

Road surface sealing will be undertaken on Tamar Street, between Boland Street and William Street. Traffic will be detoured during this time.


All roads will be reopened at the end of each night shift.


Important Information for Road Users:

  • Expect changing traffic conditions each night during the works period (12/05/25 to 16/05/25).
  • Please be aware that these works may result in increased noise, vibration and lighting.
  • Scheduling may change due to unforeseen circumstances or weather conditions.
  • Please adhere to all posted signage and follow instructions from traffic controllers on site to ensure your safety and the safety of the workers.
  • Linemarking and activation of new traffic signals will be carried out following the road sealing.
  • A temporary roundabout will remain in operation until the new traffic signals are commissioned.
