Engagement Round 3
Round three of the engagement closed on Monday 28 April 2025.
The draft Carr Villa Memorial Park Masterplan was shared as part of the final stage of engagement. This followed two earlier rounds where the community and stakeholders were invited to help shape the vision and direction of the Masterplan.
The draft was open for feedback from 28 March to 28 April 2025, allowing the community and stakeholders to provide comments directly within the document. We received 56 detailed comments and suggestions. This thorough engagement process has helped ensure the final Masterplan reflects the ideas and priorities shared by the community and stakeholders throughout.
Information about the third phase of engagement, conducted from 28 March to 28 April 2025, is provided below:
We invite you to review the Masterplan and share your feedback directly on the document below. Your feedback will ensure that the Masterplan accurately reflects the values, expectations, and needs of the Launceston community.
Please provide your feedback by Monday, 28 April 2025.
Please note: As you make your comments on the document it will populate a yellow bubble. When you move away from that page your comments will be hidden. Don't worry, they are not being removed - we can still see them.
Previous Engagement & Key Findings
We engaged the community via the Tomorrow Together - A Resilient City 2024 to understand the burial and cremation needs as well as their connection to Carr Villa Memorial Park and Cemetery.
Key findings from round one:
- 41% of respondents indicated that they do not have plans in place to be interred in Carr Villa (23% do and 36% unsure) though 30% of those aged 60+ indicated that they would plan to be interred at Carr Villa.
- Of those who planned to be interred in Carr Villa, 61% would choose ash placement.
The survey presented respondents with a series of options for how they want their remains handled when they die. Pie chart above illustrates the top results.
The second round of engagement focused on getting a better understanding of what the community thinks about the Memorial Park, how they use its facilities and nearby areas, and what they would like to see in the future.
Key findings from round two:
- Respondents noted that additional bench seating, shelters, public toilets, wayfinding, children's play, and reflection spaces as key assets they would value most within Carr Villa.
- 37% of respondents who visit Carr Villa value the Flora Faun/Bushlands.
- 86% of respondents have either a positive or neutral view of Carr Villa of activity usage such as dog walking, walking, picnics etc.
